A young man crossed the desert with a gift—a flask of water for the old teacher who had once saved his life.
The journey was long. The heat harsh. By the time he arrived, the water had turned bitter from the leather pouch.
Still, the teacher drank. He smiled. “It is the sweetest water I’ve tasted.”
Later, another student tasted it and spat it out. “Master, the water was foul!”
The teacher said simply,
“You tasted the water.
I tasted the gift.”
Years later, that young man became a teacher himself. And whenever he received a wrinkled note, a wildflower, or a broken toy from a child… he smiled, drank it in, and said:
“Thank you. This is perfect.”
Gratitude sees what eyes miss.
It feels the heart beneath the hand.
When you give with love or receive with thanks—
You touch the Divine.

Service Reflection
Key Theme: Gratitude Is a Spiritual Practice—Appreciate the Gift Within Every Offering
The central thread of this joyful and heartfelt service focused on how gratitude can transform ordinary moments into sacred experiences:
- Gratitude is more than politeness—it is a spiritual state. It arises from the heart and allows us to receive life more fully.
- The intention behind a gift is what matters most. The story of the young man and the stale water reminded us that the spirit of giving holds more value than the object itself.
- We are united in divine love. Through prayer, meditation, and community, we are reminded that we are all connected by one Source, and all prayers are heard—no matter the form.
- Self-love is foundational. The meditation beautifully reflected the idea that when we love and nurture ourselves, we are better able to love others and share healing energy.
- Spiritual living is present-moment living. Through reflection and inspiration, we are invited to embrace ourselves and others just as we are—with compassion, acceptance, and joy.
In essence: Gratitude opens the soul. Whether receiving a small kindness or offering your presence, let your heart recognise the gift inside the giving.
